Window tinting shades are measured by VLT (visible light transmission), which is the percentage of light that passes through your windows. We offer film levels at 50%, 35%, 20%, and 5% with 50% being the lightest and 5% at the darkest, also referred to as limo tint.
Window tinting laws vary from state to state. In Iowa, there are standards that have been set by the Department of Transportation regarding the level of light transmittance. On windshields, non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line. Front side windows must allow more than 70% of light through. Back side and rear windows are allowed to have any level of tint desired. To clarify, for Iowa residents, any level of tint that is added to the front side windows is considered illegal and you could potentially receive a ticket if pulled over by law enforcement. Our window tint jobs are typically completed in the afternoon, left to sit overnight inside our shop so the adhesive can cure, and can be picked up the next morning. If you are unsure which level of film you prefer, you are welcome to stop in and take a look at the sample pieces we have to get a better idea of how it will look on your vehicle. The cost is the same for all levels of tint.
